Debbie, Whitney, and Kelly:
I worked with your husband and father respectfully, at Skeeter Products. At Skeeter we have seven drivers at any given time. When Winston came on board, Pat decided to give each person a nickname; so we could tell to whom we were referring. We used the Seven Dwarfs for character names. Winston's name was doc. The character of doc wore glasses, and was presumably the most intellectual. That alone tells you what kind of poeple Winston had to work with. lol..
The drivers around Skeeter knew Winston liked a good joke. When someone told a joke Winston was usually on the line laughing at it with the rest of us. We often had conference calls with four or five drivers at one time.
I was very thankful at our last dealers meeting in Dallas last July. 100 degree temps got the best of me. I basically got overheated. Winston cranked his truck, turned the a/c on max to cool it off, and brought me a cold bottle of water and a towel. He said let's go sit in my truck and cool off. I was thankful he was watching out for me.
Truck drivers are a special breed of people. We deal with many things on a daily basis other people would flip out over. Winston was straight forward when he spoke; hovever, he was also very calm and collected when an important issue arose.
When Pat and I had an agrument about what a word meant we would call Winston and he would tell us the definition of the word from memory. Then he would say you guys are too much! It may sound silly but we got a laugh out of it.
I think Winston found the secret of life long before I met him. He knew how to laugh, love, and live. I believe he was happy and content with his life, and that is what everyone should strive for.
One more thing. The drivers at Skeeter knew when to call Winston and when not to call. We did not call during breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and if a novel was being read on XM Radio. When we did Winston would let us know we were interupting his dinner or novel. We laughed about it when he would call back. He loved to listen to those things.
Although Winston is gone, his memories will live on here on earth. We will see him again one glad morning. I was moved at the service when the powerpoint slide show presented those pictures of Winston and his daughters. That to me was sad, knowing Whitney and Kelly would not see their daddy anymore. I have a four year old little girl. She is daddy's little girl. I can only imagine the emptiness you are feeling. So I will pray for you to be made whole again through God's healing hand and kind love. It is hard to believe God in times like these, but I believe if you stay strong and look up, you will see a bigger picture. Maybe not the whole picture, but more of one than you can see now.
I will not try to pretend I can understand what you are going through, but I will say God Bless. If there is anything you need help with call me. I am more than available to help.
