William H. "Bill" Ruth's Obituary
William H. “Bill” Ruth, 82, of Lake Cherokee was born October 10, 1934, he passed away on February 7, 2017. There will be an entombment service at Rosewood Park Mausoleum on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 10 a.m. and a celebration of life will be held at the First Baptist Church in Kilgore at noon the same day. The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home in Longview on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m.
He is preceded in death by his father William Hammel Ruth and mother Anita Purvis Ruth; and sister Norma Ruth Day. Bill is survived by his wife Joan Ruth; daughter Amy Rainoshek of Bullard, TX; son Alan Ruth and wife Maryann of Denver, CO; he was Papa to JT Cooley, Morgan Ruth, Colton Rainoshek, Taylor Ruth and Kaley Ruth and uncle to four nieces.
Bill was a graduate of Sunset High School in Oak Cliff, TX and SMU in Dallas, TX. He has resided at Lake Cherokee since 1963 and taught math at Foster Middle School for 25 years. Bill was an avid fisherman, bowhunter and spent his retirement years traveling with his wife Joan. One of his greatest pleasures was exploring the backroads of the Texas Hill Country and mountains of Colorado. Bill was known for his sense of humor, quick wit and was loved by all who met him. He was a 32nd Degree Mason in Longview Lodge 404.
