William David Goodwin's Obituary
A Celebration of Life
William David Goodwin, age 74, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on June 1, 2026, surrounded by his family.
David was born on November 1, 1951, in Pittsburgh, Texas. He graduated from Longview High School in 1970 before attending Kilgore College. Longview became the place he proudly called home where he built a life centered on family, friendship, and love.
David is proceeded in death by his parents William T and Tommie Jo, his brothers, Mike, Billy and James Timothy, nephew Colby, grandparents Octo, Pop and Bessie Mae, beloved Aunt Ida, cousin Nancy, Mother-in-Law Lynda Sue and his “brothers from another mother ”Robert Holmes and Tony Riley.
David is survived by his wife Sherri the love of his life for 43 years; his children daughter Kristy & son in-love Lee, son Stephen & daughter in-love, Melissa; daughter Nikki & son in-love Mark; the joy of his life his grandchildren, Tyler, Erin, Baylee, Josh, Jordan, Alec and Noah; great grandchildren, Kinley, James, Aubrey, Aurora; his dear Sister in-laws and Brother in-laws; his beloved nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends. David’s love extended beyond Family and friends to his faithful pups whose loyalty and affection enriched his life.
For 42 years David dedicated his career to Anheuser-Busch. He worked for R & K Distributors for 33 years where he held several positions and made many memories. David moved to Hartford CT where he was offered a position with Hartford Distributors Inc. as an Area Manager for 9 years. He earned the prestigious Anheuser Busch Presidential Award of Excellence which exemplified his dedication to his profession. David was greatly loved and respected by his colleagues for his strong work ethic, leadership, loyalty, and commitment. While he took great pride in his work, his greatest achievement was always his family.
David loved spending time outdoors Fishing, Hunting and making memories with his Family & Friends. He was a devoted fan of the Longview Lobos, Dallas Cowboys, Texas Longhorns and the Boston Red Sox’s. He rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams.
David lit up every room that he walked into and had a God given gift of keeping everyone laughing and hanging onto his every word. If you were lucky enough to sit next to him, you had the best seat in the house. His sense of humor was legendary among family and friends. Whether through a well-timed joke a playful comment or a mischievous grin, he had a way of brightening every moment in life, even on difficult days.
His greatest passion has always been his family and the time spent together creating memories that will be treasured forever.
David's legacy is one of Faith, Family, Love, Devotion, Integrity, and Humor. He touched countless lives through his kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to those he held dear.
Visitation will be held at Rader Funeral Home in Longview, Texas, on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home. There will be no graveside services.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made toward funeral expenses by calling Rader directly at (903) 753-3373. Your kindness, prayers, and support mean so much to us as we honor and remember his life.
Though our hearts are broken by his passing, we find comfort in the memories he leaves behind and the love that will continue to bind our family together.
David will be deeply missed, forever loved and always remembered.
