I just found out about Bill's passing. This truly breaks my heart and has brought me to tears. Bill and Rowe Anne were like second parents to me. We would go on camping trips together, Eastman Park picnics, and many other things. Bill would always pick on all of us kids while we were out and about.
I called to tell her about my mom's death and invited her to the services. I even offered to come by to pick her up. but she declined because of Covid-19. We reminisced about the picnics, camping trips, and other things we had all done and had a great time laughing about it all.
Bill is the one who taught me how to do a front dive, back dive, front flip, back flip and a cut-away dive off the diving board. The last time I called to wish Rowe Anne happy birthday, she was out. They had a home health lady there and she told Bill, it is John David. Bill told her, "I know him!" She answered and told me that she was out. I told her I was calling to wish Rowe Anne a happy birthday and would call back. I called back and visited with her. I asked about Bill then, and he was not great.
I will never forget his smile. He had a mischievous grin like my dad did and then would look at my dad and say . . . . watch this. Then he would do some stunt like take us snipe hunting. He and dad were the first to even tell me about snipes. I miss those times so much.
Bill was a deacon at MABC, now MBC, as was my father. They worked together in ministry, and they really had a heart after God. He and dad would sit and talk the bible around us and were not ashamed of who knew what they believed.
I am truly saddened by the loss of such a wonderful man. I know Rowe Anne will miss him terribly. I will keep you all, Rowe Anne, Ray and Leigh Anne, his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in my prayers. Sending you all comforting thoughts, much love and many hugs.
Please do not hesitate to call me if you need anything. I love you, Rowe Anne and Ray!!! More than you know.
