William Byron Crook's Obituary
Funeral services for William Byron Crook, 74, of Longview will be held at 11 AM Saturday, December 11, 2010 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Reverend Mike Schutz of First United Methodist Church of Longview officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.
Byron was born on September 24, 1936 in Gilmer, Texas to Bert and Orene Crook. He graduated from Longview High School and North Texas. Byron also attended Texas A&M where he was a member of the Corp. He was the owner of Byron Crook Electric Co, INC, retiring in 2003. He served on the board of Bealls Ladymon Corp. Byron was also a member of the Association of General Contractors of Longview, and the International Brotherhood of Electric Workers. He also owned and operated Crooks Cherokee Farms, breeding and racing thoroughbred race horses. Byron was a member of First United Methodist Church of Longview.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Jimmy Crook of Longview; daughter, Lisa Ann Evans and her husband Greg; grandchildren, Madison James and Grant Evans of Aledo, Texas; and special friend and caretaker and the mother of his children, Elizabeth Moorman. Byron is also survived by Sam Cantu, a longtime trusted employee and friend.
During his illness, Byron adored his family and many friends, their visits, encouragement and support. The family request that memorial donations be made to HeartsWay Hospice, 1306 Pine Tree Road, Longview, Texas 75604.
