Waymon Brown's Obituary
Waymon Merrwell Brown, 85, was born in Elmore City, Oklahoma on August 10, 1930 to Thedus Merrwell and Grace Brown and he stepped into Heaven on October 20, 2015. He loved his wife, Joyce Brown, his children, Alan Brown of Longview and Kim Hawkins of Daingerfield, Texas. He was the proud grandad of Matthew, mark and Monica Brown and Jonathan Hawkins. He was blessed to have 5 great grandchildren, Christopher, Kayla, and Jocobe Brown, and Emley and Fiona Hawkins. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. His only sister and brother in law, Claudia and Dr. DI Coggin, share unforgettable memories of times together.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, David Hawkins.
Mr. Brown was an active member of the Prime Time Bunch at Mobberly Baptist Church. He was retired from Sun Oil as a Corrosion Specialist and was a 32nd degree Mason. He also served in the Korean War in the Air Force and played on the Air Force Baseball team.
In his younger days you would find this proud man of Chickasaw heritage fishing and hunting. As years went by, he loved traveling the country with Joyce and their friends in a motorhome, working in his woodshop creating treasured pieces and restoring his 64-1/2 bright red convertible mustang. He lived life to the fullest and could even be found ballroom dancing with his beloved wife or barbequing a meal the entire family would enjoy. On a side note, his cooking skills never extended to chicken and tuna, but hot links were one of his all-time favorites. He also enjoyed being a part of the Mustang Patrol with the Shriners and sharing wisdom, wit, and a chuckle with all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, take a moment to value friendships, love your family, dance like no one is watching, learn the Pledge of Allegiance, be able to recite from memory the 23rd Psalm, travel the world, read a good book, tell your children you love them, and don’t forget to give your life to Jesus.
A memorial service for Waymon will be held at The Crossing at Mobberly Baptist Church on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon.
