Vaughn M. Mason's Obituary
Services for Vaughn M. Mason, 83, of Hallsville will be 2 PM Saturday, February 16, 2008 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home with Brother Joe Hancock officiating. Burial will follow in Hallsville Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. Mason passed away Tuesday evening in a Shreveport hospital. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
Vaughn was born on February 29, 1924 in Kusa, Oklahoma to Raymond and Magnolia Mason. Mr. Mason was formerly a resident of Longview where he owned and operated Associates Medical Laboratory for many years. He was a member of the Hallsville Church of Christ. Mr. Mason was a World War II veteran and a recipient of a Purple Heart, Oak Leaf Cluster, and a Bronze Star. He was a medic with the 85th division and served under General Patton in North Africa and General Clarke in Italy. He was a Paul Harris Fellow and a long time member of the Rotary Club. Mr. Mason was a family oriented person and dearly loved his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Daily Mason; son and daughter-in-law, John L. and Judy Mason of Dallas; daughters Janice Mason Albert of Longview and Judith Ann Pipak of Hallsville; brothers and sisters-in-law Bob and Linda Mason, and Dr. Joe N. and Dale Mason, all of Arkansas.
