Thomas "Gene" Grigsby's Obituary
Thomas Eugene “Gene” Grigsby was born on July 2, 1928 in Dirgin, TX to George Washington Grigsby and Stella Jane Pepper Grigsby. Mr. Grigsby was a hardworking man who loved taking care of and providing for his family. Gene was married to the love of his life, Cherry Smeltzer, on June 10, 1952, and they enjoyed 62 years of marriage. He was retired from L.E. Meyers after 33 years where he worked as a foreman and a heavy equipment operator. He was also a 60 year member of the IBEW Local Union and a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his son, Tommy Grigsby; his parents; and 11 brothers and sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cherry Grigsby; his daughter, Carla Allen; his granddaughter Julie Groves and her husband Roger; his grandsons Randy Grigsby and Shane Grigsby and Kim; great-grandsons Austin, Brayden and Conner Grigsby; and his great granddaughters Micayla Groves and Peyton Grigsby; and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
Graveside will be held at 10 AM Monday, July 7, 2014 at Harmony Hill Cemetery in Tatum. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. Grigsby passed away Friday afternoon in a local hospital. There will be no set visitation time but family and friends may sign a register book at Rader Funeral Home on Sunday, July 6, or at www.raderfh.com.
