I met Tom when we were young adults. Tom was living in an upper flat near 35th and Lloyd in Milwaukee with a few other guys. This was the mid 1970’s and we began meeting in his apartment as a local house church, which later became known as Living Stone Fellowship. Tom and I continued our friendship over the next few years as part of Living Stone. Eventually I got married, and my wife and I stopped being part of the fellowship. However, I still had some contact with Tom while he and I worked at Blue Cross. We would meet for lunch on occasion, which often included a bible study time with another coworker. Tom and I would pack our lunch; mine typically consisted of a boring peanut butter sandwich and a piece of fruit, but Tom would often have very interesting lunches, one such consisting of a whole, large turkey leg! I found that odd at the time, but I realize now Tom was just ahead of his time, as whole turkey legs are a yearly, popular food offering at the Minnesota State Fair. Unfortunately, once Tom stopped working at Blue Cross we lost touch for the most part.
I am saddened to hear of his passing, but I know he is rejoicing in the presence of Jesus, his Lord and Savior. I also know he is enjoying his reunion with Levi and Sutton, friends from Living Stone that have gone to paradise before him. I look forward to rejoicing with them all when it is my time to join them.
