Susan P. Ellison's Obituary
Susan Jean Pierce Ellison went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 26, 2017.
Susan was born August 24, 1946 in Marshall, TX to Robert and Jeanette Pierce. She grew up in Jefferson, TX and upon graduation attended East Texas State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education. Susan married Raymond “Tommy” Ellison on July 27, 1968. She began her teaching career in Marshall, TX and also taught in Bloomburg, TX, but the majority of her teaching career took place at Atlanta Junior High School in Atlanta, TX.
Susan was a very devoted wife and mother and a doting Mimi to her twin grandchildren. Tommy and Susan were long-time residents of Atlanta, TX until they moved to Longview in 2010. Once in Longview, she became a member of Fellowship Bible Church in Longview and an active participant in her small group class. Susan was also a member of the Garden Club of Jefferson where one of her favorite activities was the Annual Pilgrimage. She also enjoyed getting together with her childhood friends frequently.
Susan is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Jeanette Pierce. She is survived by her husband Tommy of Longview, son David and wife Rebekah and grandchildren Caleb and Emily of Wake Village, brother Bill Pierce and wife Dusty of White Oak, niece Katie Young and husband Adam of Hallsville, and nephew Josh Pierce and spouse Lionel Faure of Flower Mound. Other relatives include cousins Eloise Lipman of Plano, Jane Wilson of Gilmer, George Taylor of Houston, Bob Markos of Brenham, James R. Pierce of Austin, Carole Ann Pierce of Austin and Aunt Benenna Jo Pierce of Austin, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Susan loved her Lord, her family and her friends and she will be deeply missed by all who were privileged to know her.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Fellowship Bible Church in Longview at 4600 McCann Road. The family will receive friends Thursday morning prior to the service from 10-11 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family memorial donations be made Smile Train, 41 Madison Ave. 28th Floor, New York, NY. 10010, or to Fellowship Bible Church Building Fund in memory of Susan Ellison.
