Stephen Butler's Obituary
A memorial service celebrating the life of Stephen Nelson Butler, 36, will be held at 2pm, Monday, July 8, at Winterfield United Methodist Church, 2616 Tryon Rd. The Rev. Jay C. Barnes and the Rev. John Woodard officiating.
Stephen was born January 24, 1977 in Longview, TX to Gerald and Lucrettia Butler and he passed away in Longview, TX, July 4, 2013, after a brief illness.
Stephen grew up in Longview and was a 1995 graduate of Longview High School. He was a Presidential Scholar at Kilgore College where he performed in several Theatre productions and interned two summers with the Texas Shakespeare Festival. He received his BA in Theatre Education from Southwest Texas State University in 2000.
He was proceeded in death by his brothers, Michael Sulllins and Todd Butler and his grandparents, Herman and Omah Butler, Jo Ann and Harold Nelson and James Rainey.
He is survived by his parents, Lucrettia and Rick Carnes of Galveston and Jerry and Becky Butler of Longview, His siblings, Greg Butler of Longview, Scott Butler and his wife, Adrienne Brabham Butler of Austin. Kimberly Sullins Allen and Dan Reedy of Pearland, Michelle Sullins Boyd and her husband, Steve Boyd of Missouri City and Elizabeth Butler Camp and her husband Chris Camp of Sachse. His nieces and nephews, Brent, Randi, Hailey, Zac, Ashley, and Jon Michael He is also survived by his grandmother, Audrey Rainey of Longview, as well as aunts and uncles and cousins.
The family will receive visitors immediately following the service in the church's Fellowship Hall.
