We only recently learned of Sid's passing, & were saddened to hear it. My brother, Jay Brooks, & Sid were close friends & neighbors for many years. I met him as we started the 9th grade at PTHS, & we graduated together in 1971. He was a rascal & a rounder, & he was a lot of fun! We send our condolences to his entire family.

Dear Cordell Family,
I read of Sid's passing and it brought back many memories of our friendship as kids. I entered Pine Tree Elementary in 1959, and graduated with Sid in 1971. Over the years, we had many classes together and enjoyed a number of common interests, including music. I played trumpet in Junior High and High School.
His dry wit and quiet humor were a great part of his appeal and popularity. Often, our group found ourselves in stitches thanks to his sly jokes and quick wit.
I lost track of him when I moved away from Longview in 1971 to attend college and didn't move back. I missed not knowing him as an adult and maintaining our friendship. However, I will cherish his memory and his friendship and the knowledge that he had a rich, full life.
