Shirley LeTourneau's Obituary
Shirley LeTourneau
Shirley Lee Stanfield LeTourneau was born in San Francisco, CA on May 11, 1928. She went into the presence of the Lord Jesus whom she loved and served on Sept 14, 2013. She was married to Roy S. LeTourneau on August 19, 1951
Shirley's family moved to Oakland, CA when she was a baby and lived there until she married Roy. She was saved under the ministry of Irwin Moon and later attended Oakland's Neighborhood Church where a number of Roy's relatives also attended and was introduced to Roy through their efforts. She served as a hostess at the servicemen's center and was active in all aspects of the Church.
They lived in Longview, TX after their marriage but soon were on their way to the jungles of Peru, South America. Shirley had her second child in Longview and then joined Roy in Peru where her other two children were born. She played the piano, organ and accordion and was an active hostess. Her home was always open to missionaries from the jungle and any other friends and visitors that came her way. On occasions she adopted families with small children when they were studying away from home.
She lived in many places across the US from Florida to Oregon in support of Roy's work. In later years she traveled by motor home with Roy in Ministry covering almost all States and Provinces in North America and by plane around the world.
She suffered much with illness but always without complaint and was always a blessing to those around her. In 1985 when she came down with Acute Leukemia the first time, she prayed that God would let her see her first grandchild. That grandchild is now 23 years old and is joined by 7 others and 3 great grandchildren. She loved her family and loved having them around. Many of them were around her bed when she left to be with her Lord.
Shirley is survived by her husband Roy, four children, Brenda Nale, Nancy LeTourneau, Don LeTourneau and Randy LeTourneau along with 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
