Shirl King Jones
Graveside services for Shirl King Jones, 66, of Kilgore will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Gum Springs Cemetery with the Reverend Albert Murdock officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. He passed away Thursday morning May 8, at his residence.
Mr. Jones was born April 2, 1942 in Youngstown, Ohio to Harold and Lillian Jones. On April 12, 1959, he married his high school sweetheart, Ayvonne Oney and they were married 49 years. He operated S & J Contractors, Money-Saver and A & S Grocery for 30 years. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, who had a heart of gold and would help anyone.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Jones and his granddad, Orthie Jones.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Ayvonne Jones; daughter, Cheri McAlister Hollins; mother, Lillian Oney; sister and brother-in-law, Charlene and Art Davis; grandsons, Brian McAlister, Jeremy McAlister, Josh McAlister and his wife Misty; great grandchildren, Cannon, Austin and Paige; nephew, Robert Shaw and his wife Martha and their children; many friends; and best buddy, Dakota.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
