Ayvonne--I was so sorry to hear about Shirl. I know that he loved and adored you. I know you will have difficult days ahead as I lost Ken nine years ago. I found that the best way to get through these times is knowing that Ken is watching over me and I will see him again. We all met and married so young, but in retrospect it was the best move we ever made. It gave us extra years together that we would not have had if we had waited until we were "grown up". I think that made us all have a stronger marriages as we learned how to live and love together. I know Shirl was a good husband and family man. You will be in my prayers. Ayvonne, I remember you two at Foster Junior High School. You had matching shirts and I thought that was so-o-o cool. I always thought you had a fairly tale romance, marrying your first love. May God give you peace and comfort.

How saddened I was to read of Shirl's passing and the loss of another Class of '61 classmate. Shirl's passing certainly came too soon and he will be missed.

Although we have not seen the two of you in quite some time, I know how close the two of you were and how much he enjoyed your three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. How fortunate they were to have a grandfather to take them fishing and spend time with them outdoors!

Although life will not be same for you, Ayvonne, after spending 49 years with your best friend, the sweet memories of a kind and caring husband will sustain you and help you through each day.

I regret I was unable to come to the visitation or to the service, but my husband's health problems prevented my being there. Although I was not present, physically, I was there in spirit. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
