Samuel F. Mapes' Obituary
A Mass of Christian Burial for Samuel Faidley Mapes, 90, of Longview, will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at St. Matthews Catholic Church with burial following in White Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Mr. Mapes was born November 8, 1928 on a ranch in Live Oak County, Texas to Felix Francis Mapes and Mary Ann Gallagher. He was preceded in death by Robert Mapes, Dorothy Mikulenka, James Michael
Mapes, Scotty Mapes, Bobbie Sargent, Donald Edwards, and Jesse Edwards.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Betty Edwards Mapes; Samuel D. Mapes and wife Christy, children Megan, Bridget, Madeleine, and Sammy. Rick Mapes and wife Morgan, sons Sean and Robert. Micky Mapes and wife Lori, children Morgan and Weston Wernecke, Madison and McKenzie. Matthew
Mapes. Mary Emily Schwietzer, Rhodabeth Mapes, and many nieces and nephews.
Sam graduated from George West High School. He served in the Air Force during the Korean
War and he was an inspector for the oil and gas division of the Texas Railroad Commission.
He was a 50 year member of the Knights of Columbus.
