I remember Pops phone calls early on Saturday mornings - Jeff can you fix this rattle deep in the dash or some other obscure car or house related thing. I think he's probably called all his kids at one time or another like that.

As annoying as it to be called at 7:00 on your only day off I realize now that it was just pops way of seeing his kids that he loved and missed so much now that we were all out of the nest.

And if possible we never refused him because we loved him too.

Dad was always there for us like taking me to look for my first car or just someone to talk to when feeling down.

Who can ever forget his dry sense of humor, his laugh or smile?

I'll miss you Pop - we'll all miss you but we'll see you again one day in heaven -

I grew up with SM Duckworth as a kid in south Wichita. SM was not known as
Ducky then. Ducky was his older brother, Robert Neal. Any kid who knew SM never called him by his given name or else you would get a bloody nose or a fat lip. SM gave himself his own nickname which we all called him.. He was "Shirt tail" or "Shirt" for short.
Shirt had a cousin Floyd and we all hang out together as kids

I lost track of Shirt until my wife ran across his son Jeff while working at Boeing. years later. My wife and I had the opportunity to stop at Longview on our way to Florida and we had a nice time visited with Shirt and Lolita. When we pulled up into the yard of their home I stuck out my hand and said, "Hello Shirt" His reply was, "I am glad you remembered not to call me Shirley or I would have had to bloody your nose>"
