Roy Allan Ottmers' Obituary
Mr. Roy Allan Ottmers, 87, of Longview passed away peacefully in his family home on April 30, 2019 after a lengthy illness. He was born to Richard H. and Annie Hecht Ottmers in Aspermont on March 28, 1932. Roy spent his childhood in Rule where he was surrounded by the love and support of the community and built cherished lifetime friendships. Mr. Ottmers was a 53 year resident of East Texas, which he loved to call home. Roy was married to Wanda Long Ottmers on April 7, 1955. They enjoyed 64 years of marriage and had four daughters who were the center of his world. He was employed by the Texas Railroad Commission for over 30 years. “Ott’s” years with the commission were more than a job and provided an opportunity to work in the oil field which he loved and established lasting relationships which he treasured. Left to cherish his memory is his family who he loved so much, wife Wanda, four daughters, Sheilah Dancer, Cindy Smith, Becky Fiscus and Kim Ottmers-Orman. His sons-in-law, Mark Puchala, Ed Smith, Mike Orman, and nephew Larry Clark, who he considered his boys. He felt extremely blessed to have nine wonderful grandchildren, Kacey Droz, Dustin Dancer, Taylor Ake, Krista Freese, Michelle Redman, Jason Fiscus, Parker Fiscus, Tanner Orman, and Skylar “Lil Bit” Orman and twelve great-grandchildren. If you had the time to spare he was more than willing to share his thoughts about how “really great” they are. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Virginia, brother Lawrence, sister-in-law Reba, and infant brother Eugene. A visitation and reception honoring Roy Ottmers will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the family home from 2:00 to 4:00. The family wishes to express appreciation to the staff of Compass Hospice of East Texas for their kindness and support. Also to Bridgett Grimes who so cared for him like a friend. A special note of love and appreciation to neighbors Terry, Donna and Tony Curtis for always being there. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.
