Ronald "Ron" Herman Holcomb's Obituary
Ronald Herman Holcomb passed away on February 10, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on December 6, 1949, at home in New London, Texas, Ron lived a life defined by music, freedom, and deep love for family and friends.
Ron graduated from Longview High School in 1968 and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1970 to 1974. His time in the service reflected his strength, independence, and dedication, qualities that remained with him throughout his life.
A true free spirit, Ron was known and admired by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Music was at the heart of who he was. An outstanding guitarist with a great voice, he had a natural gift for bringing people together through song. Whether on stage, at home, or among friends, his music left lasting memories and joyful moments that will continue to echo in the hearts of those who loved him.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Marie Holcomb, his sister, Betty Smith, his brother, Jerry Holcomb, and his son, Destry Holcomb.
He is survived by his daughter, Staci Holcomb, his brother, Everrett Holcomb, his sisters, Jerri Lynn Holcomb, Jennifer Hallman, and Jessica Taylor, along with many grandkids and great grandkids as well as friends whose lives he touched deeply.
Ron’s legacy is one of music, love, laughter, and living life on his own terms. He will be remembered not only for his talent and voice, but for his generous spirit and the warmth he shared so freely.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 14th at Rader Funeral Home in Longview, Texas, followed by a celebration of life at Wylde Acres in Longview, Texas.
In celebrating Ron’s life, we remember the music he played, the stories he told, and the love he gave so generously. His song may have ended, but its melody will live on.
