Ron was a great friend and a great musician . I met him through my Dad , Joe Bob Wells and played my first gig with him at the fox hunter in Longview . That’s been a minute ago , I learned quite a bit from Ron , not so much music , but the way he carried hisself , he wasn’t shy and would tell it like it was . He had a little red neck in him as some would find out . If someone would come to him on stage and request a song and Ron told them that the band didn’t know it , my advice would be don’t ask again . Lol . My first time in a recording studio was with Ron , I was nervous and Ron could see it and I’ll never forget what he told me , “ he said don’t worry about how you sound cause Bobby Claire going to dub over you . He laughed and laughed over that . I could go on and on about Ron I loved Ron as did my family and countless others . I’ll miss you Ron and I’ll never forget you …Bobby Wells

Ron was a great guitarist, on of my best times was getting to sing a great Gene Watson song Nothing Sure Looked Good on You with his band and Ricky Lynn Gregg. Thanks for all you did for music 🎶.
