Ron Shafer's Obituary
Ronald Lee Shafer was born September 24, 1938 at Hoppess Clinic in Maddison County, Anderson, Indiana. Born to William Guy Shafer and Vera Jean Vanhorn Shafer.
Loving father of Kathryn Suzanne Shafer Pence of Longview, TX, Christopher Allen Lee Shafer of Arlington, TX, Scott William Edward Shafer of Hallsville, TX, Ronald Lee Shafer, Jr. and his wife Mandy of Tyler, TX, Leigh Ann Shafer and Bret Blakely of Hallsville, TX and son-in-law James Boyd of Hallsville, TX.
Grandchildren are Devin and Kayla Tems, Tabitha, Amber, Stephanie, Carsen and Ronald Lee Shafer, III. and Junior Boyd.
Previously married to Charlette Ann Tutt Shafer of Hallsville for 31 years. He was a long time member of Hallsville Lion’s Club, retired from Hallsville
ISD after 22 years of service. He was known as Santa Claus for several years in the Hallsville community and HISD schools.
Mr. Shafer is survived by sister and brother-in-law Chuck and Connie Hartzell of Anderson, Indiana, numerous nieces and nephews of Anderson, Indiana and Longview. Also by aunts, uncles and cousins of Indiana.
Special and longtime cousin Paul Vanhorn, Jr. and friends Dora May Dellinger, Robert Brenneke, Donald and Connie McGivern, Tom and Susan Capozolli.

Services will be held in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Mr. Shafer passed away in Longview on Wednesday, January 27, 2016.
