I remember Ron from high school. He was always a man with a smile and a good word. I will miss our conversations. He was, in simple terms, a great huy and a good friend. John Cole
My thoughts and prayers are with Ron and his family. I had the pleasure of working with Ron in maintaining the areas where the youth in the Hallsville Baseball Association practiced and played on HISD property. I appreciated his support and recommendations.

So sorry to hear about the passing of your dad. He would have Eva with Careteam bring cards to my dad Coach Gideon & it would make his day. Prayers & comfort to your family.

From The Songbird Family to the Shafer Family, We want you all to know that it has been a pleasure and a blessing to have shared the last months with your Dad. We only wish we could have known him longer and done more for him. We pray for peace and comfort that only the Lord can provide and we will cherish the memory of a very special man. With love , Stephanie and your Songbird family.
Ron was one of a kind. I worked with him many years at Hallsville. We would butt heads sometimes, but I considered him a friend. He thought some of my requests were a little far out but he did his best to help me out any time I needed it. He went through some rough patches as we all did with some former employees but he survived as we all did. He will be remembered for playing Santa Claus at the elementary schools. He loved the students and they loved him. As I said I always considered him a friend but didn't realize until after he retired that he considered me his friend as well. He came walking down the hallway at the Primary Building one day and I was so surprised to see him. He walked up and gave me a big hug and said he was coming to see if I was doing ok and staying out of trouble. Of course trouble is my middle name, but it meant so much to me that he took the time out to seek me out and check up on me. We will truly miss him. My prayers and sympathies to his family.
Scott we are so sorry for the loss of your dad, Ron. Even though we didn't know him, Barry and I know you and we have always seen your strength, honesty and value that were qualities you were given by your father. Rest assured that he is with our Heavenly Father now. You and your family are in our prayers.
