Roberta Hutchison Wren's Obituary
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 28, at 2 PM at the First Presbyterian Church, Longview, for Roberta Hutchison Wren, with Reverend Johnathan Jehorek officiating. Visitation will be at Rader Funeral Home, Longview, Friday April 27 from 5 to 7 PM.
Roberta was born on February 1, 1907 in Tulia, Texas to George Chester and Beulah Hutchison. She passed away April 25 at Sheridan Nursing Home, Bryan, TX.
She graduated with a B.S. Degree in Home Economics from the University of Texas. She received her master?s degree from Columbia University in New York City.
She was a teacher of home economics in the Perryton, TX schools before marrying Dennis Wren in 1936. She was the dietitian and cafeteria manager of the Longview Pine Tree school district for 21 years.
She was a member of the Good Shepherd Hospital Auxiliary, the Captain William Young DAR chapter, as well as the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Longview for over 50 years.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dennis Wren, a sister and a brother. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands: Patricia and Kent Potts of Bryan, TX; Dolores and Larry Crissup of Whites Creek, TN; and son, Lanny Wren of Quitman, TX. Roberta is also survived by seven 7 grandchildren and thirteen 13 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Good Shepherd Hospital Auxiliary, Pine Tree Alumni Association scholarship Fund or First Presbyterian Church, all in Longview, TX.
