Robert "Bob" William Hisey passed away on September 11th, 2009, in Random Lake, Wisconsin. Bob, a longtime resident of Longview, Texas, had resided in Wisconsin with his daughter and son-in-law since July.
Bob was born in New Cordin, Indiana on March 27th, 1922. He grew up exploring the wonders of nature along the Wabash River. It was along these banks with his cousin Bill Smith, that his love of fishing was born – a passion he pursued throughout his life. On April 22nd, 1942, he married his high school sweetheart, Sarah Ellen Thomas in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Three days later he was shipped overseas, serving with the Army Air Corps in North Africa and Italy. Upon his return home he attended and graduated from Tri-State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Bob and Sarah moved their growing family to South Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he was a Professional Engineer for Bucyrus-Erie. He later transferred to Richmond, Indiana. Bob and his family moved again to Franklin, Wisconsin, to Richardson, Texas, and then to Roanoke, Virginia where he worked for Gardner-Denver Industries. He enjoyed spending weekends exploring the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains with Sarah. Bob and Sarah then moved to Rowlett, Texas where he was project engineer for Cooper Industries. In 1990, he and Sarah moved to Longview, where Bob completed his professional engineering career at Le Tourneau Corp. and where he and Sarah retired. He continued to enjoy and pursue his love of nature utilizing his green thumb to cultivate his flowers, and his sharp eye and talents to sketch and paint.
Bob had a way of making everyone feel treasured and never hesitated to reach out and help others. Bob's work allowed him to travel the world making friends in far away places such as Australia and China. In the mid 1980's, he and Sarah moved for a time to Finland. The young boy from New Cordin, Indiana traveled the world.
