Robert "Bob" William Hisey passed away on September 11th, 2009, in Random Lake, Wisconsin. Bob, a longtime resident of Longview, Texas, had resided in Wisconsin with his daughter and son-in-law since July. Bob was born in New Cord Read Obituary
I owe alot to Bob. He was my mentor, my chief engineer, an all around good guy and my friend. He was an engineers' engineer. He always had time for new ideas and shared his experiences to keep us on track. He will be missed.##imported-begin##Larry Halwas##imported-end##
I meet Bob in 1971 and worked with him on the GD120 team, Bob was an outstanding engineer and always wanted to share his knowledge. I traveled the world and found Bob was truly respected for his engineering ability and as a person. I have never heard anything about Bob except praise and appreciation for his engineering ability.
Bob was always admired by everyone that knew him for his intelligence, kindness and understanding. Bob left this earth with a great legacy for his engineering designs and his wonderful family. Everyone that knew Bob is much better off from being acquainted with a wonderful man. What a man leaves behind on earth is a true testament of his character and the person that he was. Bob was one of the greatest.

As a member of the Gardner Denver GD 120 Team I had the distict privilage of being associated with your Father. His wealth of Engineering experience & practical creativity incoroporated in the machines he designed was readly recoganized & accepted throughout the World.
Aside from being an outstanding Engineer he was eager to teach & pass on his knowledge to others.

When Gardner Denver Co. decided to become more active in the Surface Mining Industry they wisely elected to pursue and hire the number one design engineer in the business. Bob was that person and within months after joining GD he had designed and supervised the construction of the largest Rotary Blasthole Drill in the world. That drill was the GD 120 and 40 years later many of those drills are still in use today.
Bob was not only a great Drill designer but even more importantly he was a man who truly loved his church and Lord. He loved his friends and family and was respected by all as a perfect gentleman.

Nearly four years ago we moved to East Texas and reconnected with Bob,my friend of 39 years.Met at USSteel Minntac mine on the Minnesota Iron Range where the prototype Gardner Denver GD-120 drill was operating...the drill of Bob's dreams. I joined that elite team in '72. Bob & Sarah had us to dinner soon after we moved to Dallas. Bob & I traveled the world together many times. His character and professionalism always raised our customer meetings to a higher level.We have cherished these last 4 years visiting, lunching and reliving our experiences. We celebrated his 85th birthday in Jefferson; we were together on his 58th in China, too. Bob recently told me he had only 50% use of his heart. I told him that was no problem since he had at least twice the size heart of anyone I knew. He & Sarah raised a fine family of which he is so proud. So happy we had the mini-GD reunion at our b&b last October with Don, Irv, Emmy Lou, Lynn and Betty. We are better people for having Bob in our lives. His memory will last a lifetime...until we meet again.
