Robert J. “Sully” Sullivan
Celebration of life services for Robert J. “Sully” Sullivan, 76, of Hallsville, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 11, 2015 at the Cowboy Church of Harrison County with Pastor Joe Hall officiating under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Sullivan was born November 18, 1938, in Longview, TX to Joe and Laura Sullivan, and was a 1955 graduate of Spring Hill High School. He worked for Tidwell Tire and Commercial Tire in Longview. In his early years, he played minor league baseball. He enjoyed fishing and civil war reenactment. “Sully” was well known and well respected and according to his wife, “he was the kindest man I ever knew”.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Joel Sullivan; and his brother, Billy Ray Sullivan.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Betty Sullivan of Hallsville; children, Denise Weaver and husband John of Starrville, TX, Reagen Dirksen and husband Alex of Fairfield, OH, Randall Horton and wife Candy of Liberty City, and Doug Lloyd and wife April of Marion, MI; grandchildren, Kailee Weaver, Madox and Mimi Dirksen, Carter, Maddie and Olivia Horton, and Delaney and Macy Lloyd; sisters, Darlene Maloney and Marilyn Sullivan of Bettie, TX; and sisters-in-law, Annie Girdham of Jonesville, MI and Jean Sullivan of Frisco. He is also survived by his “children of the heart”, Fred Waddington of Longview and Susan Stubblefield of Hallsville.
