Rev. Robert Allan Hudman's Obituary
With heavy hearts but a profound sense of gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Robert Allan Hudman, a faithful servant of Jesus Christ.
In the presence of his family and surrounded by the love of friends, Robert left his home on earth to join his Savior in heaven on June 17, 2023.
Born on February 23, 1954, in Shreveport, Louisiana, Robert was the son of John and Lila Hudman. He grew up in a Christian family where he developed a strong foundation of faith that would shape his life's journey.
Robert married Amy Glins on June 21, 1975. He was a loving spouse to Amy and together they built a strong and faith-filled marriage. Their union was blessed with five daughters: Virginia, Susan, Abby, Hannah, and Meredith. Robert regularly taught his children about faith and life through his speech and actions. As the girls grew and married, Robert embraced their husbands as his new sons and enjoyed deep conversations about life, love, politics, and sports¬—especially baseball. Eventually, grandchildren were added to the family, and they, too, learned how much “Pa-Pa” loved Jesus, his pets, and fishing. Robert was deeply invested in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He led family worship; attended school functions; hosted holiday gatherings; and loved spending time camping, fishing, or gardening with his grandchildren.
Robert's deep commitment to his faith was evident in every aspect of his life. In addition to his successful career as an internal auditor, Robert had a servant's heart and actively participated in various church ministries, including roles as a deacon and worship leader before his ordination on February 18, 1996. Following ordination, Robert entered full-time ministry and served as a pastor in Oklahoma, Kansas, Virginia, and Texas for many years.
In his free time, Robert was an avid fisherman. He loved spending time outdoors and appreciating the beauty of God's creation. He enjoyed traveling with Amy after his retirement. Together they explored new places, met new people, and caught more fish¬—often using these moments as opportunities to connect with others and share the love of Christ.
Robert's departure from this world is deeply mourned by his family and friends, but we find comfort in the knowledge that Robert is now in the loving embrace of our Heavenly Father, reunited with his parents, John and Lila; his older brother, John; and his great grandchild, Charlotte, as well as many other loved ones and friends who have gone before.
We also celebrate the impact that Robert had on our lives and the legacy he leaves behind through his wife, Amy Hudman; daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and David Gerhardt of Canadian, Texas, together with their children, Gage, Maegan, Ethan, and Aiden; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Houston Benson of Hallsville, Texas, together with their children Kaitlyn and husband, Stephen Farmer, Nathaniel, Grayson, Abigail, Isabella, and Wesley; daughter and son-in-law, Abby and James Titus of Midwest City, Oklahoma, together with their children, Madeline and expected baby; daughter and son-in-law, Hannah and Ryan McCauley of Gilmer, Texas, together with their children Aleister and Maya; and daughter, Meredith Hudman of Longview, Texas.
Family and friends are invited to gather at 9:30 a.m., June 22, 2023, to honor and remember Robert’s life before the formal 10:00 a.m. memorial service at Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd., Longview, Texas.
Memorial donations may be made to Samaritan’s Purse.
