Robert (Bob) Howell Freeman, age 85, passed away on January 24, 2025 in Longview, Texas. He was born May 9, 1939 in Denison, Texas to parents Louise Howell Freeman and Dr. Don W. Freeman.
Bob grew up on a farm west of Denison, Texas and attended Denison High School. He went on to attend Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri. Bob eventually discovered his passion for flying and earned his pilot’s license. Bob spent most of his life working as a corporate pilot, including years that he flew Stephen Stills and Santana on tour. Bob ended his career by working for 22 years at Bombardier Aerospace as a Regulatory Compliance Co-Ordinator before retiring in 2022.
Bob loved his dogs and being out on Lake Cherokee in his boat. Bob loved cruising and travelling to explore new countries and cultures even when he wasn’t travelling for work.
Bob is survived by his wife, JoAnn Walker Freeman, of Longview, Texas; daughter, Traci Freeman Sanderson (husband Greg) of Peoria, Arizona; grandchildren, Taryn Franklin (husband Aaron) of Round Rock, Texas and John Sanderson (wife Kelsey) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; step daughters, Renee Wyche (husband Mark) of Gladewater, Texas, Laura Thompson (husband Jerry) of Bayou Vista, Texas, Julie Branch (husband Matt) of McGregor, Texas; and step grandchildren Lacey Hinski, Thomas Culbreth, Taylor McDaniel, Madelyn Branch, and Jackson Branch; many great grandchildren; and his loving dogs, Maxx, Lizzie, & Bojangles.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation arrangements is under the care of Rader Funeral Home.
