The Holland Family (Bobby Joes Kids) have many fond memories of Brenda and Richard. Our family was exiled to Dekalb, Illinois in about 1960 (Dad was an Aggie = corn fields) so we would take the twice-yearly pilgrimage to East Texas to visit the folks. Sometimes we would get to go to Longview and Kilgore to see Mom's cousins, aunts and uncles. Great times. Those folks could ride horses and had cattle and everything! Great Uncles Charles and Roy taught us to dip snuff before we had cleared kindergarten. Brenda and Richard came to Illinois to visit us in about 1970. We played tennis, messed with the horses, ate good, and watched the corn grow, fun times. It was really special to get visitors from down home in Illinois. Bobby Joe always said everybody talked funny up there. In 2006 Kathleen and Rick moved to Boerne and had Christmas there. Brenda and Richard came and brought a group of exchange students. I don't remember where they were exchanging from, but those students meant the world to Brenda and Richard and were considered family. Of course, the driveway was still dirt, and it rained and well, mud. People sleeping in every corner but those are the times you remember best and laugh about after a couple years go by. All of the Holland families want to express our sincere sympathy to Brenda and the Thornhill Family. Rest in Peace Richard.
