Richard Alan Kyle's Obituary
Richard Alan Kyle was born April 10th, 1958, in Houston, Texas, to his loving parents Bessie and Billy Kyle, and passed away on March 9th, 2021, at the age of 62. Richard followed his mother in death, down to the hours, so he would never spend a day on earth or in heaven that wasn’t by her side.
Richard, who was special needs, never met a stranger. He had an affinity for names and phone numbers, and he called everyone he loved as often as he could, just to say “hey, Haus”.
He was never sheltered or hidden away, but instead was shown the value of community and inclusion. He was a long time member of Moberly Baptist Church, where he was part of their special needs program. He loved to help “lead the singing”, and would lift his voice without abandon for all to hear. He was brought to tears by the gift of music and his love for Jesus.
He spent most of his life in a residential group home setting in Longview, where he enjoyed the company of other residents and his caretakers. He never left home without his watch, his bible, and his cowboy or captain’s hat, and most days he wore a suit coat and a T-shirt. He was always happy to make you a cup of coffee, (or to have you make him one), and to sit and visit with absolutely anyone. His heart was so open and brimmed with love, and he was loved and cherished by so many.
He was preceded in death by his father Billy Kyle, his nephew Kyle Brecheen, and countless family and friends. He is survived by his sister Marsha Kyle, his niece Amanda Brecheen, his beloved aunties Nellie Ridinger and Geneva Morell, friends Juanita Herford and Shirly Grubb, and countless other cherished family members and friends.
Richard and Bessie’s shared memorial service will be held at Alpine Church of Christ, at 1pm, on Saturday, March 13th. To view, please livestream:
