Ray Howard Beard's Obituary
Ray Howard Beard was born on January 14, 1925 to Eva and Bena Beard in Winnsboro, Texas. Mr. Beard passed away on June 21, 2017.
Mr. Beard completed Associates in Art Degree from Le Tourneau Technical Institute in 1950. He served his country in the US Army in WWII. He retired from Marathon LeTourneau after 43 years of service.
He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and though he could no longer be in attendance physically loving friends and staff took precious time to visit and pray with him regularly.
Ray enjoyed gardening, wood carpentry where he could take wood and build a beautiful piece of furniture to carving anything from a block of wood. Through his love of these, he gave generously to others.
Mr. Beard is survived by his son, Tracy and his wife Traci of Longview; Step daughters, Tavie Spivey and her husband Tom of Longview, LeAnn Bemis and her husband Doug of Longview grandchildren Blake Beard, Alex Beard, Jeff Berry, Chris Berry and Tavie Rae; brother Joe Don Beard and his wife Margaret. Numerous nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Beard; daughter Anita Beard, sister Kate Howell, brothers, Jim Beard, Chuck Beard and Rex Beard. Preceding him also was his first wife Ellen Beard whom passed in 1973.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Pentecost, Hollis Kesterson, Ray Phillips, Jr., John Northcutt, Corey Joslin and Alton Weir.
The family of Ray Beard would like to thank all staff at Treviso Transitional Care and Heart to Heart Hospice for their tender compassion and loving care. God touched your hearts and asked you to care for our loved ones and you did not hesitate. We are so grateful to you all.
In lieu of flowers the family asked to give to Macedonia Baptist Church of Longview.
A funeral service will take place on Friday June 23, 2017 at Macedonia Baptist Church beginning at 2 PM with a visitation to take place one hour prior to the service at the church.
