Polly Bogardus' Obituary
Funeral services for Polly Ferrell Rae Rawls Bogardus, 73, will be held at 10 AM Friday, July 29, 2011 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Brother Jim Rust officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Park. Polly passed away Tuesday afternoon in a local hospital. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
Polly was born on October 20, 1937 in Wilmot, Arkansas to James and Viola Ferrell. She worked for Paramount Packaging and LeBus Manufacturing and was a Baptist. Polly was known by all her friends and family as Barefoot Polly. She loved and cared for her family and took great pride in watching her kids and grandkids play a number of sports. Barefoot Polly was known by many people and loved by them all.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Payne Bo Bogardus; her grandson, Daniel Rae; her sisters, Myrtis Fuller and Vertie Mosier; and her brothers, Carl Ferrell, B.C. Ferrell and James Ferrell.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children and their spouses, Gary L. and Kathy Rae, Kyle Rae, Alex Rae, Byron Rawls, and Willie and Christy Rawls; one brother, H.E. Ferrell; one sister, Elizabeth Williams; 14 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and her lifelong friend, Avon Jones.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the many friends and family that have helped care for Polly. A memorial fund has been set up at Texas Bank and Trust under the name of Polly Bogardus for memorial donations.
