Phillip Tyrone Wright's Obituary
Phillip Tyrone Wright was born on November 20, 1937 in Henderson, TX to parents Frank and Oleta Wright. Phillip grew up in Henderson were he met and married the love of his life, Bobbie Anne Humphries, on August 19, 1960. Phillip taught for several years in the Tyler ISD. He and Bobbie then opened Phil's Stereo & Electronics in Longview and enjoyed this for 20 years. He returned to teaching in 1987, and completed one of his greatest joys in Tatum and Pine Tree ISD. After retiring from teaching, Phil "Bopper" enjoyed playing golf at Lake Cherokee, spending time with family and friends, and constantly telling numerous jokes. Phil began his battle with cancer in January, 2012, and received excellent care from the compassionate staff at M.D. Anderson. He loved life and appreciated the love, caring and support during this time. Phil went "home" on Thursday, August 2nd. He requested a Grand Celebration of a wonderful life lived to the fullest. Today we will honor this request.
Phillip is survived by: his wife, Bobbie Anne Humphries; Children and their families: Kevin & Lynn Wright of Kilgore and their children, Andrew, Keith, and Rachel; Darrel & Lisa Wright of Tatum and their children, Kogan and Kalen; Hardy & Alyssa Eggum of New York; and his brother, Kenneth Wright and wife, Nancy.
Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins
The family requests that memorials may be made to M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston or to a charity of choice.
Funeral services will be 10 am Monday, August 6, 2012 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with Masonic graveside services following at Elderville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 until 7 pm.
