The family will greet friends on Friday, August 13, from 6 to 8 PM at Rader Funeral Home and from 2 to 3 PM Saturday, August 14 at Rosewood Mausoleum. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home, Longview.
Pauline Finch Hynard went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 11, 2010, just five weeks shy of her 91st birthday. She was the seventh born of fourteen children to Marshall and Mary Finch of Eudora, Ark.
A graduate of St. Francis Hospital Nursing School in Monroe La, she went on to serve proudly as a registered nurse in the U.S. Army at Fort Benning, Ga. During her military service she met and later married George Hynard from Long Island, NY. Their early years of marriage were spent on the east coast until a job offer brought them to Chicago. In Illinois their two daughters were born: Karen Elizabeth and Kathryn Louise.
Career moves sent them from Illinois to Arizona and finally to Texas. Retiring to Longview in 1983, Pauline continued her lifelong interests of bird watching, gardening and needlework. She was an avid and keen duplicate bridge player and still was winning bridge games at age 89.
Her years in Longview were blessed by all the friends she so easily made. She was tireless in helping friends in need and later, in faithfully caring for her bedridden husband until his death in 1995.
We daughters gratefully thank the Lord for the last eight months we had with her. Her courageous spirit in coping with heart failure and COPD were awe-inspiring. She had a determination and will to live not often seen against such overwhelming odds.
Besides her youngest brother Robert and his wife Elise, Pauline is survived by her two daughters, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mom we love you always and thank you for the gift of life.
