Paul W. Story
Graveside services for Paul W. Story, 84, of Longview, Texas, formerly of Fairfax, Alabama, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 20, 2005 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.  He passed away Friday, June 17, in Longview.
Mr. Story was born March 15, 1921, to Dona and William Clifford Story in Fairfax, Alabama, one of 13 children.
Paul began a career as a marine engineer on ships during WWII, and continued in that role until he became branch agent of the local MEBA Marine Engineers Beneficial Association in Galveston, Texas.
In 1974, he was appointed by the U. S. Secretary of Labor Peter Brennan to the position of Southwest Regional Director of the U. S. Department of Labor.  He remained in that position until 1978, handling any situation dealing with labor issues in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.  He was reappointed to that position under President Reagan.
Retired from the marine engineers and the federal government, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren when he wasn?t traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sisters, Len Story, Jack Story, Cecil Story, Robert Story, Carol Cooksey, Georgia Newman, Vera Senn, Helen Thompson, and Sara Land.
He is survived by two sons and two daughters: Paula Story, Ann Story, David Story and wife Christina, and Shawn Story; five grandchildren, Jason McKinney, Heather McKinney, Justin Story, Tara Story, Caroline Story and three great grandchildren, Aubrey McKinney, Kyle Boyer, and Aaron Boyer.  Also surviving Paul are his sister Billie Ashberry, brother-in-law Paul Ashberry and many nieces and nephews.
