Opal Gilmore's Obituary
A celebration of life for Opal Gilmore will be held at 12 noon, Friday, October 27th at Calvary Baptist Church of Longview. Graveside services will be held at Courtland Cemetery in Atlanta, Texas to follow. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Opal was born on June 18, 1917, to Grady and Freda Guyton. She passed away peacefully on October 22, 2017, at the age of 100. She retired from working many years as a teller at the Longview National Bank. She married her high school sweetheart, Homer Gilmore in 1936, beginning a beautiful marriage of 47 years. She was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church and was active as a volunteer worker and Pine Tree High School for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Gilmore, daughter Pat Hill and husband Richard, grandson Steve Peterson, great grandson Christian Peterson, her parents, two sisters and one brother.
Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Linda Peterson and husband Sid, her son Bill Gilmore and wife Sandy, 7 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and a host of friends who loved her as much as she loved all of them. She will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her.
The family wishes to thank the neighbors who watched so carefully over her, and a special thank you to all her care givers for their love and care.
