Opal Birdwell Shaw's Obituary
Graveside services for Opal Birdwell Shaw, of Minden will be held at 11:00am Friday April 11, 2008 at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Minden with the Rev. Haskell Lunsford and Rev. Jerry Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of the Rader Funeral Home of Henderson.
Mrs. Shaw died at her home Wednesday April 9, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born December 10, 1916 to the late Jarrett David & Agnes Alexander Birdwell. She and Rayford Wylie Shaw were united in marriage May 22, 1936.
Opal was a very active member in the Minden First Baptist Church where she served the Lord in Christian fellowship. She was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class and the Ladies Fellowship. Her services extended to help others as she also was a volunteer for Henderson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for many years. She led her life as a Christian example for her family, church, and community.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Frances & Jerry Rawlinson of Longview, sister Jarrett Turner of Marshall, sister-in-law Helen Shaw Lisle of Bedford, granddaughter Shawna Sharrar of Moore, Oklahoma, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband Rayford, daughter Jean Shaw, grandson Scott, and sister Daisy Jarrell.
The family visitation will be at the Minden Baptist Church Fellowship Hall following the service.
