My Dad wished to convey his sympathy to the family of Mr. Moses. He will be 80 in December and remembers Mr. Moses as his last surviving educator and Coach at Judson High School. Mr. Moses must have been fairly new to teaching at the time as he was only 8 years senior to my Dad. Daddy remembers that Mr. Moses seemed to favor him--always joking and teasing with him. Most impressive though was that Mr. Moses seemed to always remember the names of every student he had taught even when that ever enlarging circle of students covered so many decades and generations. And to think all he accomplished for good after being orphaned. Rare, rare character.

Reflecting back on my life and a 36 year career as a public school educator Dr. Morgan Moses will always be one of the top influences in my life. When I was a campus principal he convinced me that I needed to complete my Superintendent Certification and 21 years and three school districts later I'm still at it. I think of him often. He was truly a great mentor and I consider him as one of my friends.

I remember once he was doing teacher appraisals for our district and when the principal made an announcement that Dr. Moses wanted to meet with all teachers in the library after school one of my wife's kindergarten students looked at her with wide eyes and recalling the Biblical character quizzically said, "Moooses????"

He was a truly great individual whose legacy will live on.

As a somewhat disgruntled SFA graduate student, Dr. Moses lifted my spirits and encouraged me at a critical time in my life. He was a wonderful educator and role model for all of his students and coprofessionals. His warm and caring personality instilled a deep appreciation of a leadership style that many have sought to emulate. I have thought of him often throughout my career and have always considered it a blessing to have studied under him. Few of us will leave such a meaningful legacy as Dr. Morgan Moses. Robin and I send our heart felt respect and condolences to his family.

Dr. Moses is one of the people who had the greatest and most profound and positive influence in the lives and careers of both Linda and myself. Daily we remember his insight into human nature, his wisdom and his practical advice. We remember him personally and he remembered us. We are proud of being among the thousands of students whose lives he changed forever. While today we miss his genuine smile, his kind voice, and the anticipation of seeing and talking with him at the grocery store, he will always be with us.

Morgan Moses was principal of the Judson Elementary School while my Mother taught there and he told me wonderful stories of those days. What a joy it has been to have him in our lives as friends of my Mother and Father, Forrest and Lera Beth Covin. We will miss the stories he told and the example he set for all of us. Dr. Moses was a great professor when I was obtaining administrative certication at SFA. He was the search consultant when I was employed as Hawkins ISD Superintendent. He was both a great educator and a great man. He will be missed.

As his obituary stated, "The education of students and adults was Morgan's lifelong passion". His passion for education was obvious in the classroom. My condolences to his family and friends.
