Mildred was my biggest cheerleader at the Longview News-Journal. When editors were on my back, or I felt down, she noticed and asked what was up. After a car wreck 10 years ago, she and Annie kept an eye on me, telling me I was walking better lately or bluntly asking why my limp was worse that day.
Mildred gave a damn, and she wouldn't take crap from anyone, anyone. I like it that she's buried right where the shoplifters from Kroger hop the fence on the run, because Mildred is in the right spot to trip them.
Her heart always was in the right spot, and now her spirit is home. She's not a pilgrim anymore, and I trust I'll see her and the rest of the true hearts when this pilgrimage is over.##imported-begin##Glenn Evans##imported-end##
