Barbara and the Smotherman the Family, it was a privilege to have known Mike when he was growing up on N. Ardmore and to have as a friend during our early teen years. The loss will be hard for all of you but hopefully you will lessen it by letting Mike live on through the stories that you pass on through the children and Grandchildren.
I was Mike Smothermans daughter. I wasn't born to him as a daughter but as his very granddaughter. He had me since before I could walk tho and he was the best Daddy ever! He was so proud of all his grandchildren & loved every second they were close to him. I'm the woman I am today because he taught me everything I know. Thank you to everyone for the condolences and prayers my family & I are very greatful. Please keep us in your prayers its hard to go on without your rock and we lost ours.
What a sweet gentle man Mike was! He will be greatly missed! We know Heaven is a sweeter place today! Our prayers are with his family...Blake and Terry Gage
To the Smotherman Family:
I’m very sorry for your loss. I have always known Mike to be referred to affectionately as “Uncle Mike” for the last 40 years, even though he wasn’t my uncle, but rather my dearest friend Keena’s. I know he will truly be missed by his family, and my heart goes out to each of you during this sad time. Prayers for peace.

Mike and I had several hunten trips (Bobwhite Quail) out west. We met on a Canada fishing trip with several of his friends. He had a heart as big as Texas, especially for special people. Had a heart for The Lord also. Gonna miss him, but will not be forgotten. We will keep all the family in our prayers and celebrate Mike's Home going. Heaven is the Home we should all be bound for and I know Mike would want all his family to meet him there one day.
Our prayers are with you. So sorry for your loss.

Barbara, You don't really know me, but I helped devour your wonderful cookies and cakes every year on our Llano hunt; thank you for being so gracious to a bunch of hungry deer hunters. Although I spent only a week with Mike in Llano every year for the last 14 or 15 years that he hunted with us, I feel he was a dear friend; we had many deep talks about hunting, fishing, politics, the Lord and his family on our way to and from Jerry Allred's ranch in Llano. He rarely had a conversation without talking about you and his family - he truly loved you and his grandkids.
I already am not looking forward to our trip again to Llano this October, it will truly be a hard time for our whole group - especially Keith, Glenn and I; Mike's absence will leave a void than can be filled by no one else. I was blessed to have Mike as my friend, huntin' buddy and brother in Christ; he's gone from us for a while, but I know I will hunt with him again in the Lord's time, and we will have many good talks together when time is no more.
May the Lord comfort and hold you in your time of grieving and loss, lean upon Him for He is strong enough to carry you.
Sincerely,
Bill Minson
