Max Statman was born in Dallas and graduated from Forest Avenue High School and Texas A&M. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and came to Longview as an Engineer with Texas Eastman. He was the President or Chairman Read Obituary

I have just learned of Max's passing and my heart is so very sad. You guys have been such a big part of my family for so very long. I will remember Max for his dry sense of humor, as well as his big heart, and his tenderness for his family and friends.

Dear Jan,
I considered Max a friend for sixty five years. We met as freshmen at Texas A & M. I came from a small High School and was really unprepared for academics at A & M. Max had a good academic background and tutored me through Freshman Chemistry. I will never forget it and will always be grateful. Without his help, I never would have made it. He could have spent his time elsewhere, but he chose to help me.

Dear Jan,
I was so saddened to hear of the loss of your beloved Max on Sunday. He was part of the Friends of the Library when I was working on my masters and requesting their help in paying for my textbooks while I worked as a Library Assistant; and I cherish the memories of my interactions with him at that time. His service today was so touching; and though I do not know Hebrew, I know that the parting song was an uplifting one, in keeping with the spirit of Max Statman.

Our thoughts and prayers go to Jan and family over the loss of Max. I was privalenged to work with Max as a new chemist at Eastman and I will never forget his positive way of working with new people and way of always having an outlook of figuring out how to keep things working. He was a very personable man and always helpful. My wife who is of Polish ancestry gave Max an egg braid bread that he expressed pleasure at getting, something from the old traditions.
