Max M. Rae's Obituary
Services for Max M. Rae , 65, of Longview will be 10 AM Tuesday, August 10th at the Alpine Church of Christ in Longview with Rodney Cox and Jerry McCaghren officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be at Lakeview Cemetery. Max, an IFR rated pilot whose passion was flying and duck hunting, died Wednesday in an aircraft accident at Olney, Texas.
Max was born September 21, 1938 in Longview to T.A. and Bessie Smith Rae. A lifelong resident of Longview, he was a retired salesman having worked in the paint and coatings industry. Max was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Max, who never met a stranger, was known by many and loved by all is survived by: a son and daughter-in-law, Kelly and Elizabeth Rae of Helotes, Texas; his daughters and sons-in-law, Karrie and Oscar Salinas of Denton, Texas and Angela and Arthur Crittendon of Sonora, Texas; his grandchildren: Mason and Luke Rae, Marissa Salinas,
Dustin and Will Crittendon; a sister, Juanita Patrick of Longview; sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Joe Ivey of Longview; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tommy and Charlotte Rae of Longview, and Jack and Ginny Rae of Hallsville. Max is also survived by his special friend, Patti Leatherbury of Longview.
Pallbearers will be Don Maxwell, Al Heard, Steve Coker, Dub White, Charles Mouton, Weejay Bundara, Gary Rae, and Jeff McKinney. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Goble, Hugh Murray, Van Scalco, Oscar Sallinas, and Mac Smelley.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd. Monday evening 6 to 8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Experimental Aircraft Association Aviation Center, P.O.
