To the Jones Family,
We would like to offer our sympathy and prayers of comfort to you in the loss of your loved one. We lived in Hallsville for several years and knew him to be a great witness for our Lord's Word. He will be missed, but his example through Jesus lives on in his wonderful family. God Bless,
Travis and Patricia Honea
I met Maurice when I first went to work at Eastman in 1965. Sometime, probably in the 80's or 90's, Maurice transferred from maintenance to construction engineering as a mechanical inspector. That is when I really got to know Maurice. I have tried to pattern my life after his ever since. I never met a nicer or more capable man anywhere and a man who "lived out" his faith at all times. I know he loved his family, his church, and his garden. He was a great encouragement to me and I know I will meet with him again someday whenever our Lord decides to call me home. It was an honor for me to know him.

When I was Financial Secretary at the church, I would frequently go to the Jones' home to have Evelyn sign a check for me. It was always a fun and profitable visit for me, as I was usually loaded down with vegetables from their garden. One time, I remember Maurice and Evelyn were in the pasture behind their house, burning a trash pile together. I trapsed out there and Evelyn signed the check using their truck hood as a table. You never knew what you'd find them doing! Maurice was such a sweet, gentle man. I always enjoyed talking with him and being in their home. It smelled and felt like my grandparents' home---I guess that's why I liked it so much.
I'm thankful our paths crossed. I will miss him.
