Martin W. Morrow
Martin Wayne Morrow of Gladewater, Texas, age 73, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023 after a lengthy illness. Martin was born on January 29, 1950, in Durant, OK. He is the son of the late Wayne C. Morrow and Valera Morrow.
He graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. He retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Facilities Division after 30 years, most recently serving as a Director of Operations and Maintenance. He also worked as a Facilities Assessor for VFA/Accruent, retiring after 15 years.
Martin was a talented artist, with a passion for music. He and his beloved wife served as Area 2 Vice Presidents for the East Texas Association of Square & Round Dancers. He served at Memorial Baptist Church in Navasota, Texas, as a Minister of Worship. He also later served as an Ordained Elder at Believers Fellowship Church in Huntsville, Texas. He is a current member of East Mountain Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Debra, his daughter, Dawn Pozak (Sean Falbo), and his two grandchildren Emma and Thomas Pozak. He is also survived by his two sisters, Jo Stanwood, and Mary Hagle as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many cherished friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, William (Bill) Morrow.
Funeral services will take place at East Mountain Baptist Church in Gilmer on Friday, April 28, beginning at 9:00 am for viewing followed by the service at 10:00 am.
Burial services will be at Providence Cemetery at 1:30 pm, at 5980 FM 347, Jacksonville, Texas.
Martin’s legacy as a kind and gentle man of God will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone whose lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to East Mountain Baptist Church, 315 E Mountain Rd., Gilmer, Texas 75645 in memory of Martin.
