Services for Marshall H. Shorter, 86, of Longview will be held at Noon Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at First Presbyterian Church of Longview with the Reverends Jonathan Jekorek and W.D. O?Neal Officiating. Interment will be held in Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Mr. Shorter was born on December 19, 1916 in Sedalia, MO. to Marshall Houston, Sr., and Mary Shorter. He passed away on Monday morning, April 14, 2003 in a Longview nursing facility.
He. was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite, a member of the Shriners, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Longview. Mr. Shorter retired from State Farm Insurance Company after serving for 30 years as an agent.
A loving, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Mr. Shorter was preceded in death by his parents, first wife of 50 years, Lenore Shorter, and brother, Charles Shorter. He is survived by his wife, Lillian Shorter of Longview, daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Charles Harvin of Houston, Diana and Pat Williams of Longview, brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Sue Shorter of Longview, Lillian?s children, Pat and Leon Levens of Lufkin, Dick and JoAnn Cooper of Gladewater, Connie and Bob Oliphint of Taylor, and Jon and Tina Cooper of Longview, 4 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday evening, April 15, 2003 at the funeral home.
