Lyla Ann Mauldin, 74, of Longview, Texas passed away February 16, 2014 after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ivy Higgison and her brother and sister John and Jean Higgison all of Read Obituary

I have memories of a young girl going to Mrs. Mauldin's house across the street from my Grandparents, Tom&Lucille Sparks home. I use to love to hear her speak w/her accent while we visited with her. That was a long time ago and I'm saddened by Mrs. Mauldin's passing. Prayers for the family during this difficult time.

I had the honor of knowing Lyla, Bill and Sharon through the putt putt golf course that made up a large part of my teen years. I am quite sure that Lyla (and Bill) could have "busted" us with our parents for pushing the limits. However, what I always remember was the way she loved on you- talked straight to you about actions and pushed you to be a better person. If I close my eyes, I can still hear her to this day.
