Mrs. Lorene Yates Mohler's Obituary
Our beloved Mother & Grandmother, Lorene Yates Mohler, 92, passed away peacefully from this earthly life on Wednesday, January 16, 2014. She was full of life, inquisitive, sensitively demanding, and absolutely hilarious. She loved jokes and greeting cards. She lived in Longview from 1955 to 2004, raising her family and living life. She attended Wesley Methodist Church and was known as Granny to friends and family. Granny lived her last years in Lufkin with her daughter Paula Parish and family.
She is survived by two daughters, Paula Parish and her husband Lanny of Lufkin, and Jan Downing and her husband Pat of Gilmer; her stepsons Gregg, Mark, and Scott Mohler and wives. Granny was also blessed with four granddaughters, Lana Hines and her husband Mark of Lufkin, Dee Downing Hollis and her husband Damon of Gilmer, Jenny Downing Yoakum of Kilgore and Jana Beth Downing of Austin. She had the honor of having 10 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She had two wonderful and devoted caregivers in her later years, Paula Kay Bryant and Jane Harvill.
Preceding her in death were her first husband, James Charles “Buddy” Yates and her second husband, Ralph Harold Mohler; and her grandson Robert Bryan Parish.
Pallbearers are Damon Hollis, Mark Hines, Keaton Yoakum, Kohen Yoakum, RL Lyles and Todd Baker.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, January 18, 2014 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday from 12:30-2 PM at the funeral home.
