Liz Rogers' Obituary
Funeral services for Nora Elizabeth "Liz"  Rogers, 82, of White Oak, will be held at 2 PM Saturday, September 24, 2011 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Rev. Mark McSweeney officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Rogers passed away Sunday afternoon in Longview.
Liz was born on May 12, 1929 in Ansley Louisiana to J.T. and Martha Higdon. She was married to Billy Rogers in April of 1978. Liz was a longtime member of the American Business Woman's Association and was named woman of the year in 1985. She was also very involved in numerous local clubs and organizations including the Evening Pilot Club in Longview, the White Oak Community Club, and the White Oak Athletic Boosters Club. Liz enjoyed working concessions at all the athletic events and was awarded an honorary diploma from White Oak ISD.  She was also a Charter Member of the White Oak Chamber of Commerce and was named Woman of the Year twice, the latest being in 2003. Liz loved her community and enjoyed working for it.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.T. Higdon and Art and Martha Smith; and her sister, Avis Joy Barrett of Louisiana.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 33 years, Billy Rogers of White Oak; her son, Dennis "Zeke" Linton and his wife Kathy of Lake Cherokee; and her step children, Steven Rogers and his wife Throm of Florida, Suzanne Rogers Ayres of Mesquite, Terry C. Rogers of Greenwood, LA, and Marc David Rogers and his wife Sarah of Longview. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4144 N. Central Expressway Suite 750 Dallas, Texas 75204-9627.
