Leland Wade Neely's Obituary
Surrounded by family, Mr. Leland Wade Neely, of Longview, passed away on May 27, 2016, in Longview, Texas.
An Army Veteran, Mr. Neely and his wife Helen were stationed in California and Germany during his service. Mr. Neely spent the majority of his life in East Texas, living in Kilgore and Longview, including many wonderful years at Lake Cherokee.
He and Helen were members of several square and round dance organizations in East Texas. They were round dance instructors for many years and organized the Circle N Rounders Club. The square and round dance community is very close and Mr. Neely considered it his extended family.
Mr. Neely was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Thrasher Neely and parents, Leland A. Neely and Bessie Lou Neely. He is survived by his son, Dennis (Nick) Neely of Gladewater, daughter, Loretta Brelsford and her husband, Gary, of Katy, Texas, grandchildren, Lindsey Brelsford of Houston and Christopher Brelsford of Houston, and sister, Retta Johnson of Flower Mound.
Visitation for Mr. Neely will be held on Monday, May 30, at Rader Funeral Home of Longview from 3-5 PM. A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 31, in Henderson with Reverend Shelley Kral officiating. All funeral arrangements are provided by Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the care given by the staffs at Arabella Assisted Living and Texas Home Health as well as his private caregivers, Maria Sartain and Sondra Stansell.
