Lela Louise Drake's Obituary
Funeral services for Lela Campbell Drake, 84, of Longview, will be April 5th at 10 AM in the chapel of Rader Funeral Home on Judson Road with Dan Manuel, David Cotham, Benny Bristow and Joe Hocking officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers are Mike Pemberton, Steve Morgan, Morgan Wilson, Earl Bradshaw, Sam Phillips, Birney Westbrook Jim King and Harold Jarvis. The family will greet friends Sunday at the funeral home 6 to 8 PM.
Mrs. Drake passed away Thursday morning, April 1st, in Emory, Texas.
Lela was born in Hallsville, Texas on July 9, 1919 to Burke and Emogene Campbell. She moved to Longview with her family at the age of 10. She had many fond memories of growing up there with her brother, Blake and sister, Jean. She graduated from Longview High School in 1936. On February 7, 1937, she married Leon Drake, the love of her life, in Longview. They were married for 47 years until his passing in 1984. Two years later, the Lord sent Elvis Robinson of Coushatta, Louisiana into her life. They were married in 1986 and he passed away in 1990.
Lela was a charter member of the Mobberly Avenue Church of Christ. She taught the second grade Sunday school class for almost 20 years. When the Mobberly family dispersed, she began worshiping with the Longview Church of Christ.
She worked for Louis Morgan Drug #1 for 34 years. She loved working at the store, meeting and helping people, and made many lifelong friends while working there.
Lela is survived by her daughter: Laura Oualline and husband, Matt, of Emory, Texas; Grandchilden: Jeff Oualline and wife Jennifer of Dallas; Michael Eenigenber of Emory; Kim Rasor and husband, Will, of Van Alstyne; and Jason Oualline and wife, Beth, of College Station; Great grandchildren: Laura Leigh, Anna and Ethan Oualline; Cortney and Collin Eenigenburg; Quinn Rasor. She also has several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Lynda; brother, Blake Campbell and sister, Jean Latimer.
The family request donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Leukemia Foundation.
